In line with the Australian Curriculum learning outcomes, our Upper Primary Camps follow a cycle which allows students to enjoy an understanding of the early development of Melbourne and the establishing of the Victorian Parliament in addition to the development of Canberra as Australia’s National Capital and Federal Government.
Students explore Melbourne whilst experiencing an urban camp setting, travel on Melbourne’s iconic tramways, visit historic sites and engage in a range of learning activities that provide an understanding of how our State Government and Victorian Parliament function.
In the alternate year, our Upper Primary students have a week in Canberra. This experience provides an amazing scope which covers the development of our National Capital and why it is of significance to the Nation. Students engage in activities that allow them a greater understanding of Civics and Citizenship, including visits to Parliament House, the National Capital Exhibition, Museum of Australian Democracy and opportunity to engage in ‘the passing of a law’ and how our voting system works. Oh yes! There are some fun times at Questacon and much more! Students are always enthusiastic about our 5/6 camps!
Our Year 7 guide provides useful information for parents and students, as they move from primary school to secondary school.
Please take some time to read through the digital flipbook provided.
He has shown you, O mortal, what is good. And what does the Lord require of you? To act justly and to love mercy and to walk humbly with your God.” Micah 6:8
Alongside the core curriculum Year 9 students participate in Micah 6:8, a program designed to build resilience and life skills; it encompasses subjects such as Careers and Health & Physical Education (HPE), as well as tying in with the requirements for The Duke of Edinburgh Award - Bronze. During the program students focus on areas such as resilience, mental health, life skills, voluntary service, and physical recreation skills.
The program runs one day each week and involves the Year 9 students working in groups to run Café 6:8, mentor Primary students, work in the College Garden, and participate in outside work. As part of the program students obtain certificates in Food Safety, First Aid, Job skills and Barista and Café skills, and are an integral part of Café 6:8, a hospitality and catering space for the whole College.
